In 2018, Karen spearhead the Welcoming Communities Indigenous Arts program. Since then, she has collectively, partnered with 18 TDSB schools throughout the GTA to support Newcomer students throughout their transitions. Using a collaborative art-making process, the program has introduced Newcomers to the Indigenous ways of life, land acknowledgements and treaties, environmental activism, and of course the opportunity to meet new friends.
